What's Happening Outside?

Pete rented a ditch witch (and lots of his own muscle) to dig the trenches for water/irrigation, outside lighting, electricity to the barn . . .

Harvesting

This is a wheelbarrow full off bird house gourds. These are presently drying in one of the barns. Eventually they will become purple martin bird houses . . .

What's Happening Inside?

The kitchen is completed, including the tile backsplash. The window seat is in. I'm unpacking boxes to fill the cupboards and . . .

A Birthday and a Birth Day

Since our last post, Duke has turned one . . . though still a pup!

Projects this Week

This is the beginnings of my greenhouse. It is the frame of a carport that Pete took down and cleared from David and Priscilla's new property. Stay tuned.

Other News from Green Pastures

I have multiple posts today so please scroll down to see everything that is going on at Green Pastures Farm. The next 2 posts are some before, during, after (or almost after) of the kitchen, master bedroom and master bath.

The Kitchen Progress

The Master Bedroom & Bath

Wow . . .it's been 4 Months!

I can't believe its been 4 months since my last post. We've been a bit busy needless to say, but we are full-time farm residents now! We received and accepted an offer on 36 Shoreline drive on Memorial day and within less than a month, had the closing and moved all of our belongings. That simple sentence does not begin to cover what went on in the month of June. Packing belongings accumulated over 26 years of marriage and moving from 3650 sq feet with 3 car garage to 1700 sq feet with only a bathroom finished is no small feat! It was a great time to purge, gift, and reorganize!

The Garden

So do you you remember the old metal workshop Pete pulled down with the skid steer? And then he broke up the concrete floor? Well, on that site, is where we've made our garden . . . and we used the broken concrete pieces to make some of the raised beds, as well as bricks from the chimney we pulled down.

Spring is Starting!

We've been working outside as well, mainly getting our garden ready, building raised beds, deer fencing, and so force. I planted strawberries yesterday. Pete spread sulfur to acidify the area where our blueberry bushes will be going. The bulbs I planted are poking their heads higher each day. However, the wild daffodils and the first of the fruit trees are blossoming. Enjoy some of the shots we've taken.
Looking forward to Spring,
Pete, Debby, and Duke

Blog Update

Let's see . . .what's new at the farm?
We had our first overnight guests. Brother David and Priscilla (and Max their Rotweiler) came to visit the first weekend in February. The farmhouse is a little "cozy" right now, so they came with their own lodging in the way of their RV. We had a grand time! Unfortunately, Duke was not a very good host to Max as he had surgery to remove a sock he ate!!! Puppies . . . He breezed through the surgery as though nothing had happened and we tried to keep him from leaping and running.
In the way of construction, the second bathroom and master bedroom are sheetrocked and primed and we've moved our "bedroom" and "living room" in there. We have lots of new wiring and plumbing. The old kitchen/living area has had the floor removed, straightened, new carrying timber, floor joists, insulated, plumbed, and the heat/air system completed. The pictures below show the progress. First the befores . . .
now work in progress . . .

It's a New Year at Green Pastures Farm

Happy New Year Friends & Family!

I have been a very silent blogger . . . so here's a long catch up post. For those of you who usually receive our Greenlaw Christmas newsletter, this will give you the highlights of our year . . . look back through the previous posts.
