A Walk on the Farm

With April's arrival, we are discovering some of the flora on the farm. We went exploring last evening and here are some of our discoveries . . .

lots of beautiful white Irises

Two very large, old dogwoods.

A southern staple - wisteria . . .

Many massive oaks - 80-100 feet tall - we're not sure exactly what type. We've used our tree books to try and identify them - so far the contenders are English Oak or Water Oak or Southern Red Oak. The leaves aren't fully out so we'll delay on our final answer.

And so far the best find of all . . . at least six very large pecan trees! We walked around last night and couldn't believe this is our property. We're identifying garden sites, a great glen for a tree swing, and generalized dreaming.

Toby has been doing his own exploring and marking of the land . . .

Pete has been working this week on "freshening up" the interior of the old farm house so it's overnight liveable. Almost there. He and Toby spent the night on Wednesday.

Enjoy this Easter weekend.
Love,
Pete & Debby
